Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL-A 13.3-Inch Laptop Review

Design: Utilizing a new aluminum uni-body with an edge-to-edge glass over LED 13.3 inch display the Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A refines the features introduced by its predecessors. Featuring a back-lit keyboard for even more ease of use, the new Pro laptop weighs in at 4.5 pounds. Measuring 12.8 x 8.9 x 13.3 inches, the laptop is both thin and light. It retains the oversize track pad that can handle multi-touch gestures making it a delight to use.
Specifications: The Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A runs on a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB worth of 1066MHz DDR2 memory (RAM) and a 160GB 5400RPM hard disk drive. Based on the Nvidia MCP79 chipset, the laptop utilizes the integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M and is powered by Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7. Connection-wise, the laptop offers a mini-DisplayPort, two USB 2.0 ports, a mini-Firewire 800 port, stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks and an SD card reader. The laptop connects via an RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port and 802.11 b/g/n wi-fi with Bluetooth support. The laptop also comes with a DVD burner.
Features & Performance: While seemingly underpowered compared to its 2008 predecessor, the Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A manages to equal the same performance. The laptop is more than adequate in handling web surfing, office applications and multimedia playback. Thankfully the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics performs very well, allowing you to play Quake Iv at almost 60 frames per second. Battery life was also good, lasting more than 5 hours on a single charge. Apple claims that the system can handle at least 1000 full recharge cycles that equal about five years worth of use.
All in all the Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A is a great revamp. The new system uses less energy, lasts longer and is a lot more powerful thanks to a well-balanced list of components. Even the new aluminum uni-body is sturdier and stronger than its predecessor, so while the extra connectivity of the Firewire and SD Card slot do add a bit more to the package, its just icing on the cake for this impressive laptop.
